Preventing Epilepsy Deaths: Clinician Toolkit
Examples of Empowering Conversations

When your patient needs comprehensive epilepsy services

If your patient needs information on surgical treatment options

Although we’d hoped we could control things better with medication alone, it may be time to look at some alternative options. How do you feel about speaking with an epilepsy surgeon to learn more about how they may be able to help you? No decisions have to be made now. This would just be a consultation.

I don’t know.  This seems overwhelming and scary.  I don’t even know how I would get to an appointment.

I know this can feel scary, but I really think some of the surgical treatments might help you manage your seizures more effectively.  You can share all your concerns about surgery with the specialist so they can provide more information to help you make a decision and determine if surgery is right for you.  If our staff helps you schedule a telehealth visit with another epilepsy specialist, would you participate?
